Individual Therapy

Therapy is more like a conversation and less like a doctor’s appointment. During the first session, your therapist will ask questions about your difficulties and your history. Your therapist will “meet you where you’re at” which means that you won’t be forced to discuss things until you’re ready. It also means the approach your therapist takes is unique to you even if they use certain types of therapeutic techniques or frameworks.

Therapy is a confidential process. You can speak freely to a therapist, knowing that these rules are taken very seriously. If someone is in imminent danger, there are laws that require reporting that information to the authorities. Your therapist will discuss these exceptions to confidentiality with you.
